With more than 3 million km2 of sea area and as a maritime country, Indonesia’s sea is an essential part of the country. Maintaining its security should always be an important aspect of Indonesia’s defense system. Whether it is to prevent foreign military aggression or even to prevent smuggling. The Indonesian waters itself is not foreign to unwanted guests, the issue of securing it has always been a topic of interest for many. With the Maritime Affairs Bill No. 34 of 2014 undergoing discussion of changes, a comprehensive discussion of the various perspectives involved is in order. As the special council available in Bahasa Indonesia, a discussion regarding a Maritime Security Law could benefit Indonesia’s defense system.
