In the aftermath of the first and second opium wars, Hong Kong found itself under the control of the British Empire for “99 years or as good as forever” with some of it being seeded in perpetuity to the British crown. Now with that original 99-year agreement coming to an end, the region and the titans of China and Britain must negotiate the future of Hong Kong.
